Custom Options Now Available in AAMVA Generator Fields
We're excited to announce a significant enhancement to our AAMVA generator that gives you more control and flexibility over your document generation process.
What's New
The AAMVA generator now supports custom options in three critical fields:
- Endorsements
- Restrictions
- Class
Previously, these fields were limited to pre-defined options from our standard list. Now, you can add your own custom values to meet specific requirements and edge cases.
Why This Matters
Different jurisdictions and testing scenarios often require specific codes and values that may not be covered by standard options. This update ensures that:
- Complete Flexibility: Add any endorsement, restriction, or class code required by your specific use case
- Testing Scenarios: Create test documents with unique combinations for comprehensive testing
- Jurisdictional Requirements: Meet specific regional or state requirements that use non-standard codes
- Future-Proof: No need to wait for updates when new codes are introduced
How to Use Custom Options
Using custom options is straightforward:
- Navigate to the AAMVA generator
- In the Endorsements, Restrictions, or Class fields, you'll now see an option to "Add custom"
- Enter your custom value
- The custom option will be added to your selection and encoded in the generated document
Example Use Cases
- Custom Endorsements: Add jurisdiction-specific endorsement codes like "X" for experimental vehicle operation
- Special Restrictions: Include temporary or conditional restrictions not in the standard list
- Unique Class Codes: Add specialized vehicle class codes for testing or specific regional requirements
Backward Compatibility
Don't worry - all existing presets and standard options remain available. This update simply adds more flexibility without removing any existing functionality. You can continue using the standard options or mix them with custom values as needed.
Technical Details
Custom options are properly encoded following AAMVA standards, ensuring compatibility with readers and verification systems. The values you enter are validated and formatted according to AAMVA specifications.
